For a lake setting

Use White Rock Lake in Dallas as a starting point when you want a lakeside outing. Choose a specific access point with the city’s current park map. Keep your first route short, and check facilities for that location before relying on restrooms or parking.

For a preserve setting

Look at Arbor Hills or Oak Point in Plano when you want a preserve outing. Use official route information to choose a surface and distance suited to your group. The park’s name or overall size is less useful than knowing the exact route you plan to use.

For a river setting

Consider a section of Fort Worth’s Trinity Trails for an outing along the river. Choose a trailhead from the official interactive map. Across all three options, use current notices and weather to decide whether to proceed. Shorten the plan when conditions are poor instead of trying to complete a preset route.
